Uluslararası İlişkiler is a quarterly journal and is published every three months. (4 issues per year)
How long does the initial screening by the editorial team take?
The average duration for the initial screening by the editorial team is up to one month. Once the manuscripts have been assessed for suitability by the editor, they are sent for double-blind peer review.
How long does the peer-review process of the articles take?
The peer-review process takes six months to one year, mostly depending on the quality of the manuscripts. This period might prolong due to finding qualified reviewers, delays of reviewers’ reports, delay during the revision process by the authors, etc.
In which languages are the manuscripts published?
Uluslararası İlişkiler publishes manuscripts in English.
Is it necessary to proofread the manuscript before submitting it?
It is strongly recommended that the authors submit their paper for professional proofreading to avoid delays or rejection before and/or during the evaluation process.
Should I submit ethical clearance document(s) for the manuscript?
If your research involves data from participants through survey, interview, focus group work, observation, experiment, interview techniques, etc., you should supply an ethical clearance document, which is supplied by the ethics committee of your institution, at the submission stage.
What is the journal’s open-access policy?
Uluslararası İlişkiler converted to a full Open Access journal in 2019 on its 15th anniversary. Upon acceptance, all manuscripts are immediately and permanently free for everyone to read and download. However, it does not mean the manuscripts can be re-published without permission from the Journal.
Which criteria should be considered when sending an article?
All manuscripts should be prepared according to the principles and rules explained in detail on the pages Publication Ethics, Author Guidelines and Style Guidelines. Otherwise, the manuscripts are returned to the authors to make corrections before the peer review.
How long does it take to publish the articles that are approved for publication by the Editorial Board?
The publication dates of the manuscripts approved by the Editorial Board depend on the number of articles at this stage. The Managing Editors of the Journal make every effort to publish the articles online first as soon as possible. At this stage, the order of publication is determined according to the principle of “first reached to this phase, first published”.
What topics are included?
The Journal includes theoretical, regional, and current issues articles related to the discipline of International Relations, including works on international law, political history, diplomacy, strategy, security studies, and international political economy.
What are the other features that I can contribute?

Should I pay to submit/publish an article?
No, there are no submission fees, publication fees or page charges for the journal.
