BOOK REVIEW: The American Passport in Turkey: National Citizenship in the Age of Transnationalism

Abstract

A passport is generally a travel document issued by a country's government to its citizens, primarily for the purpose of international travel, confirming the identity and nationality of its holder. The passport is perhaps one of the most important tools used by states for border controls and is a much newer invention of the 20th century than is often thought.
