Abstract

In this article, first of all, the concept of security with its different kinds is examined within their historical development. The theoretical works on security are explained and the discussions in history, social sciences, philosophy and international law, and the regional security discussions in the United Nations take place. Then, scientific discussions related to security’s linkage with peace, development and environment are analysed, different relations among those four concepts are explained. For steps are developed for the expanded security conception. They are sustainable development and sustainable peace with human-oriented continuance dilemma over against state-oriented security dilemma. At the end the article emphasizes the importance of conceptiual chart, the conceptual quartet and the steps for the security analyses in the 21 st century.
