A Questionnaire about Scientific Research and Teaching Practices, Views on the Discipline and Political Attitudes of International Relations' Academicians in Turkey
Abstract
A questionnaire was circulated among the faculty members of the International Relations (IR) Departments of universities in Turkey between April-June 2007 to examine whether the developments that have taken place in the wider world since the end of the Cold War had been effect on how the Turkish academics see the discipline and how much they were reflected in their teaching. The questionnaire had 87 questions about participants' personal experiences, their academic preferences, political attitudes and teaching, their foresights regarding the future of the discipline. The main aim of the questionnaire was to evaluate the attitudes of academics working in Turkey in the field of International Relations about the main issues on the national, regional and global agendas and their participation in the political processes, as well as their ideas about the future of the discipline in Turkey.
