BOOK REVIEW: The Hell of Good Intentions: America’s Foreign Policy Elite and the Decline of U.S. Primacy
Abstract
Stephen M. Walt, a professor of International Relations at Harvard University, is considered one of the most important living representatives of the realist school of thought, along with Prof. John Mearsheimer. In his latest book, Walt addresses the failures of the liberal hegemony strategy at the center of U.S. foreign policy and the group that represents this strategy. Walt, who justifies his intense criticisms with a comprehensive analysis and rich examples, presents an overseas balancing strategy as an alternative and makes a significant contribution to the literature.
